Al Bratton shared experiences and tips for carving paddles, and demonstrated the carving tools he uses. Other brought along their own tools to share and add to the discussion. A potluck supper was enjoyed at the home of Al and Jean Bratton.

Pasaic and Wallkill River Day Trips, Sat-Sun, April 12,13
Come one day or both and enjoy a scenic paddle through picturesque and serene rivers hidden from the hustle and bustle of North Jersey. As usual, the group will find a nice spot to pull over and enjoy a picnic lunch.

Pine Barrens River Trip Sat, May 31
The river we choose will be decided as we get closer to the day, and will depend on water levels. All rivers in the pines provide a fun paddling experience through the twists and turns of the water. Afterwards, we will enjoy a potluck barbeque at the home of Jennifer and Ed.

After enjoying a picninc dinner lakeside, the group will paddle as the sun down at Lake Nockamixon in Quakertown, PA

WCHA Annual Assembly, July 15 – 20
Multiple days of canoe building techniques, serene paddling, and lots of fun, including a canoe parade are in store at the annual gathering of canoe enthusiasts at Paul Smiths College in the Adirondacks.

Paddling in the Poconos Sat, Sun, Aug 9-10 Cancelled
The plan is for a trip on the Delaware River on Saturday, and a local Lake on Sunday morning. Hosted by Jim Wilson’s sister Pat, there are limited opportunities for overnight stay in the house or camping on the property.

The moonrise will be shortly after sunset, so we should have plenty of light to paddle well into the
evening, which is a lovely time to be on the water!

Paddling in the Pine Barrens Sat, Sept 27
A small group of paddlers savored a warm fall day on Oswego Lake in the Pine Barrens. Though a large beaver dam blocked our upriver route, the outing ended happily with a picnic lunch on shore.

The annual gathering of four chapters of WCHA includes hands-on boat building in the the park pavillion, and lots of opprtunities for paddling, hiking and socializing.

Trap Pond in Delaware Tues-Thurs, Oct 21-23
Camping and Canoeing at Trap Pond State Park is always a favorite excursion. Camping is available (reserve early, especially if you want a cabin). This is the northernmost Cedar Swamp Forrest, and it is truly magical to paddle through the forest.
