Beltzville Lake

Organized by chapter member Steve Malarskey, a large group gathered at beautiful Beltzville Lake in the Poconos. The weather was a beautiful, slightly overcast day with just a light breeze – perfect paddling weather! Steve led the group up a small, quiet channel of the lake where we enjoyed spectacular scenery of tilted shale rock outcroppings framed by lush rhododendron and pine trees. At the far end of the channel, we pulled our boats up on a small pebble beach and walked to a waterfall and a bridge that overlooked a delightful cascading brook.

After a bit more paddling, we again pulled the canoes over for a picnic lunch in the woods overlooking the lake. Beautiful wooden canoes combined with good paddling friends resulted in a wonderful day.
