Another year of fun excursions and gatherings for those who enjoy the art of canoe building or just the experience of paddling on a beautiful river or lake. As always, dates are subject to change, especially when Mother Nature decides it’s not a good day for paddling!

Model Boat Making, Sunday, February 15
Susan Christie and Al Bratton will share their experiences making model boats, including canoes. After wards, canoe friends enjoy a potluck dinner at the home of Susan Christie.

Join the fun as camping chefs bring their favorite camping recipe to cook up outside at the home of Mike and Susan Black. Then, gather inside to enjoy tasting everyone’s culinary expertise!

WCHA Annual Assembly, July 14 – 19
Multiple days of canoe building techniques, serene paddling, and lots of fun, including a canoe parade are in store at the annual gathering of canoe enthusiasts. This year it will be at Keuka College in the beautiful Finger Lakes area in New York.

Annual 4-chapter get-together at Black Moshannon State Park Fri – Sun, October 9 -11
A new location for the annual gathering of four chapters of WCHA includes hands-on boat building in the the park pavilion, and lots of opportunities for paddling, hiking and socializing. If you plan on camping, reserve your site early!


Trap Pond in Delaware Wed – Fri, October 14 – 16
Camping and Canoeing at Trap Pond State Park is always a favorite excursion. Camping is available (reserve early, especially if you want a cabin). This is the northernmost Bald Cypress Swamp Forest, and it is truly magical to paddle through the forest.
